"A Reflection"
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”—Jeremiah 29:11
Have you ever faced a mirror and stared into your own eyes, the windows of your soul? What did you see? Do you see your mother and father? Do you see rejection, fear, past betrayals and mistakes? Maybe you do not look into your eyes because they are a reminder of the tears that you have shed, you have no desire to regurgit
ate old memories. What are you blaming yourself for? You are not your parents or their mistakes and your mistakes do not define you.
Today, right now, you are encouraged to look into your eyes and see what God sees. God looks at you and sees a future and a hope for a better day; a new way. When God created you, there was light in you, radiating from you; there is no mistake in you. You and the I AM are one in the glory of love. We tend to hold on to our past as if it is a life line to our future. We must let it go for the purpose of self-preservation. We must let go of past hurt because we are not defined by our past. We are not defined by those words and actions that sought to destroy us. We are all products of lessons, our lessons and the lessons of others. Our lives intersect, and we learn from each other.
The Spirit of the I AM represents peace, love, hope, kindness, joy, patience and all those things that guide us through the darkness of our days and nights. When we look at the man or woman in the mirror our reflection reveals the I AM that surges through our being. We are one in spirit as spirit with the Spirit of God. If we remove the lens of darkness from our mind’s eye, we will see the reality of who we really are. Jesus went through false accusations, he was spit on, beaten, faced false imprisonment but he never gave up on his reflection; his identity. He stayed faithful to his purpose of teaching the truth no matter what was done to him, even to his death. “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) It is time for us to become familiar with our reflection…we are the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) and this is what Jesus knew.
When you look at your reflection, see God. God is inside of you where the kingdom is. It does not matter what you have gone through in your past. If it is difficult to shake past pain, seek help, there is no shame in getting counseling. This is called survival. Sometimes we need help moving forward in our lives. Develop a deeper prayer life, ask for what you need and believe that you will receive the desires of your heart. You have a purpose to fulfill just like Christ. To move forward in love, in hope and in healing; search for God in your reflection and peace will fill your mind, body and spirit.
